Long Island Teen Tried to Kill Brother: Police

The stabbing happened Friday at a home in Williston Park

A Long Island teenager has been charged with attempted murder after police say he stabbed his younger brother multiple times with a kitchen knife.

Nassau County police say 18-year-old Ruben Renderos told his 14-year-old brother that he wanted to kill himself Friday at their home in Williston Park.

Renderos told his brother that he would kill him first so the brother would not be lonely, according to police.

Police say Renderos picked up a knife and stabbed the 14-year-old in the back, head and chest.

Renderos fled but was arrested a short time later. The brother is in stable condition at a hospital. His name was not released.

Renderos was arraigned Saturday on charges including attempted murder.

Information on an attorney wasn't immediately available.
